Resumes – An Overview

2009-03-15 (All day)

When crafting a resume, it’s important to keep in mind that the document needs to be written in the context of the future. Other useful tips to keep in mind are as follows: all information should be consistent and interrelated; leave out personal information; be sure to highlight results and the impact that you’ve had on the organizations that you’ve been a part of. Be sure to incorporate key words and to update your resume every six months. Continuously updating your resume is important because it encourages you to consciously aware of the achievements, advancements, and impacts that you’re making on an ongoing basis. Common mistakes that people make when writing a resume may include: putting too much information on the document; not getting input from an objective person; including personal information. Remember, a resume makes a first impression within 20-30 seconds of being viewed.
